The 'Tsuen Wan Youth Drama Association', founded in 1977, abbreviated as 'Quan Ching Drama Association', was established by the 'Tsuen Wan Arts and Recreation Promotion Association' and the 'Drama Promotion Committee'. In the early days, it was composed of members who performed well in the 'Tsuen Wan District Drama Competition' over the years. Mr. Lo Yan-sing, the principal, Mr. Chow Tak-sheung and Mr. Leung Si-kit served as advisory teachers, and Mr. Cheung Sum-wing was the president. It was the first community theatre troupe founded in the nineteen districts at that time and is now one of the few long-standing theatre troupes in Hong Kong.
The inaugural performance, directed by Mr Leung Sik-kit, was 'The House Guest'. When the Tsuen Wan Town Hall was completed and opened, the Drama Association performed Cao Yu's new adaptation of 'Wang Zhaojun' for the first 'Tsuen Wan Arts Festival'. At that time, Quan Ching was a pioneer in community drama development, providing professional training and regular performances for aspiring young people. As the members matured, they became the main backbone of the Drama Association. In the early days, there were many members, divided into a creative group, a performance group and a technical group, with members joining according to their interests and receiving training. The Drama Association even built its own small theatre at the time, frequently holding experimental performances and providing different internship opportunities for writing, directing and acting. Therefore, many members later joined the film, television and theatre industries as screenwriters, directors, actors, producers, makeup artists and voice actors, and the troupe has also won numerous awards and created many scripts in the past.
